Senate Bill 1888, 87th Texas Legislature, 2021, establishes the Texas First Early High School Completion Program to allow public high school students who demonstrate early readiness for college to graduate early from high school and earn a scholarship for one or two semesters at certain Texas universities.Ìý

Upon a student’s initial enrollment in public high school in a grade level below grade 12 in a school system, the school system must provide to the student and the student’s parent or guardian information regarding:Ìý

  1. the requirements to earn a high school diploma under the program; andÌý
  2. the Texas First Scholarship Program.

ThisÌýÌýcan be used by school systems for this purpose.ÌýÌý

Data CollectionÌý

Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, school systems will be required to report in TSDS PEIMS information regarding students who graduate early under this program. Graduates from the 2022-2023 school year who meet the requirements for the Texas First Early High School Completion Program will be reported in the 2023-2024 PEIMS Fall submission. The data collection will be shared with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for verification and award of scholarships.
